John Mayer says he is humiliated by Taylor Swift’s break-up song

While John Mayer has never held back about divulging details about his relationships, the singer-songwriter claims he was “humiliated” by a song ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift apparently wrote about their break-up.

Mayer says he was really “caught off-guard” by Swift’s tune Dear John, which Swift has hinted is about him.

The lyrics accuse the song’s subject of playing “dark, twisted games” and having a “sick need to give love and take it away.”

The couple reportedly began dating in late 2009 but split in June 2010. Swift, who is known for using past boyfriends as inspiration for her music, included the woeful ballad about Mayer on her album Speak Now, released in October 2010.

But Mayer maintains he “didn’t deserve” to be slammed by Swift.”I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do,” he told the music magazine.

“I was really caught off guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down,” the 34-year-old added.

Taylor Swift, John MayerThe Grammy winner also called the tune “cheap songwriting.”

“I know she’s the biggest thing in the world, and I’m not trying to sink anybody’s ship, but I think it’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait till he gets a load of this!’ That’s bullsh*t,” he added.

Mayer, who is promoting his new album Born and Raised, has been criticised for speaking too candidly about his past relationships.

In an April 2010 interview with Playboy magazine, the singer said Jessica Simpson was “like sexual napalm” and expressed regret over losing Jennifer Aniston.
