Metallica plan to record with producer Rick Rubin
Metallica are going to try something a little safer this time with their next collaboration following the disastrous album ‘LuLu’ recorded with Lou Reed.
They have their eye on super producer Rick Rubin to work on their next album.
Rubin was dubbed by MTV as “the most important producer of the last twenty years.” He has worked with the The Beastie Boys, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, System of the Down and Rage Against The Machine. He has also worked with Metallica previously. Lars Ulrich of Metallica has described the decision to work with Rubin thus “Rick is a lot about creating comfort and atmosphere and a vibe.”
Corey Taylor from Slipknot had less pleasant things to say about Rubin last year in a Q&A session in Texas, where he announced to the crowd ” the Rubin of today is a thin, thin, thin shadow of the Rick Rubin that he was. He is overrated, he is overpaid, and I will never work with him again as long as I f**king live.” And this one, ”Rick Rubin showed up for 45 minutes a week. Rick Rubin would then, during that 45 minutes, lay on a couch and have a mic brought in next to his face so he wouldn’t have to move.” Talks about creating comfort. Hope things pan out better for the collaboration between Rubin and Metallica.
