Rebecca Black has chosen to be homeschooled to get away from constant verbal bullying.

Black, 14, rose to fame earlier this year when her music video Friday quickly gained over 100 million hits on YouTube, though she has been widely derided for the song’s cheesy lyrics and her uncharismatic performance of it.

“When I walk by they’ll start singing Friday in a really nasally voice,” Black said of her experiences at school. “Or, you know, they’ll be like, ‘Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?’”

Black’s mother endorsed the homeschooling due to the taunting and because her daughter needs to focus on her career.
